Proteus is working with Edutech Institute in an ambitious endeavour to make Ei-Mindspark – an online learning programme – accessible to 1,000,000. All by 2028. Proteus is providing support to Edutech in developing and implementing a strategy to integrate this ground-breaking product into the national education system. If accepted, Ei-Mindspark will bring a quality Science, Maths and English curriculum to hundreds of thousands of children across the country.
Ei-Mindspark is a personalised adaptive learning (PAL) tool that integrates the latest developments in pedagogy and technology and is proven to be highly effective for improving student learning outcomes. Ei Mindspark currently has a significant footprint in the education sector, with a presence across a range of provinces including the Western Cape (WC), Mpumalanga (MPU), Gauteng (GP), the Northern Cape (NC), and the Eastern Cape (EC), with a proven and significant impact on learner outcomes.
Using this personalised adaptive learning approach and teaching at the right level (TaRL), Ei-Mindspark aims to address critical challenges within the South African education sector – increasing fiscal constraints, growing class sizes, teacher and leadership shortages and curriculum, pedagogy and teacher quality issues.
While the solution is obvious, there remain barriers to implementing this at scale. Poor ICT infrastructure, a large rural base, and concerns about teacher’s abilities to effectively implement and oversee the programme present challenges to the implementation of Mindspark at scale. Finally, limited government resources and competition for philanthropic funding have resulted in slower than desired growth and may be indicative of longer term financial sustainability issues. Addressing these challenges will be crucial for Mindspark Education to optimize its impact and reach in the education sector.
In light of these challenges, Ei-Mindspark partnered with Proteus to develop a strategy to sustain and scale their impact across South Africa. Through a rigorous and consultative process, Proteus co-drafted a strategy for growth, sustainability and impact in the South African Education sector.
The strategy outlines three key strategic initiatives: demonstrating impact, establishing partnerships for scale and securing sustainable funding streams. These initiatives are accompanied by detailed objectives, success metrics, and an implementation plan encompassing activities, resource allocation, timelines, and status updates. Identified risks and their mitigations are also addressed, ensuring a comprehensive approach to risk management.
